What is the Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival?
Pronounced "too-lee-PAHN-ess" - means "tulips" in Spanish. Tulipanes is a free annual festival celebrating Latino culture through music, art & film.

Why was Tulipanes created?
Tulipanes was founded in the year 2000 as a grassroots, cultural arts organization in order to celebrate the historic contribution of Latinos to the prosperity of the West Michigan region and beyond;

  • To provide a city-wide celebration of Latino success stories through a variety of cultural art forms during Hispanic Heritage Month.
  • To challenge negative stereotypes about Latinos by providing affirming, educational and cultural activities.
  • Tulipanes hosts a free, annual festival that highlights Latino success stories, which serve as a role model to our youth and future generations.
  • Tulipanes is a venue for the promotion and advocacy of quality, Latino-themed family film entertainment and educational events.

Is Tulipanes a non-profit organization?
Yes, Tulipanes is a 501(c)(3) Michigan nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors, paid executive director and hundreds of volunteers. The event runs solely on donations, corporate sponsorships and an annual fundraiser.

Are donations to Tulipanes tax deductible?
Yes!

Tulipanes is held every year over Labor Day weekend. The 2007 dates are August 30-September 2, 2007.

  • Most events are in English, while some are in Spanish or are Bilingual.

How much are Tulipanes event tickets?
Tulipanes events are free for 2007 with the exception of the Salsa Night ($10) and the Opera (TBD).

  • The Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival is held in and around Centennial Park, in downtown Holland, Michigan, which is located on the West Coast of beautiful Lake Michigan.

Is it too late to get involved in, or provide financial support to this year's Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival?
It's never too late!

The overall mission of the Tulipanes Festival is to continue to improve the quality of life for ALL of our future generations by providing positive messages about Latinos.

We want to keep our events free so that we can continue to provide underprivileged children and families of all ages and groups with access to quality educational events.

Most festival-related costs are provided to us either free of charge, at a reduced cost, or are donated so that we can continue to serve our region's population in this wonderful way. We believe that positive messages about people enhance everyone's quality of life.

Tulipanes continues to build and develop its existing and future festival events on a year-round basis. We will do our best to accommodate your generous donation as our scheduling permits.
