Capoeira Mandinga

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that originated when African slaves were brought to Brazil. Using elements of music and dance the slaves were able to effectively hide the fact that they were training hand-to-hand combat. The group train out of Grand Valley State University and are under the instructions of Contra Mestre Carvão, of Capoeira Mandinga, Michigan. Classes are open to anybody and free for the first year.
