Ginner Castillo was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She showed an interest in art at an early age. As a child she experimented with different mediums such as color pencil, oil pastels and oil paints. Growing up she enrolled in various local art classes and enjoyed the art she did at school. After high school she took art classes at the University of New Mexico for three semesters. At that point in her life she got married and within a few years started to raise a family, so the art and painting was put aside and remained latent for around 30 years. Seven years ago, she and her husband moved from New Mexico to West Michigan. Ginner always felt that some day she would paint again. In 2004 she started to enroll and various painting classes offered in the Holland and Saugatuck areas, all taught by local artists. Initially she started once again working with oil paints but recently has tried her hand with acrylics and she is really enjoying this new process. She hopes to continue to evolve as an artist and find her true creative voice.
